FHC Annual Spring Horse Show

To say that we dodged a bullet would be such an understatement given the recent weather and the dire forecast for show day. More like dodging a really big bomb. Against all odds the 2018 Farmington Spring Horse Show went off pretty much without a hitch. No lightning, only a light rain shower on the last division, and we ran from 8:30 to 5:30 pretty much without any hold ups.
Let me start by thanking Lynne and Mark Gebhard for once again letting us use their fabulous facility. Only somewhere like that with EXCELLENT footing would we even have had a chance. They made us all feel very welcome and it is a huge blessing to me that they are willing to put up with us. Thanks to all our sponsors! It makes it much easier to sleep at night knowing the horse show is in the black when we start. Thanks especially to Mr and Mrs Magruder Dent III for sponsoring the Leading Trainer award. It is a special thing to be able to go show and come home with some loot other than a ribbon. Thanks to Drew Perkins not only for supporting me (with growing enthusiasm each year I might add) but also by supporting the show by donating the prize money and coolers we were able to award thanks to his Bearwood Consulting, LLC. He also manned the secretary booth from start to finish, with a smile!
Huge thanks to all my volunteers. Liz King for capably getting everyone parked correctly, my secretarial help, Ann Horner and Anne Riley, my very capable ring crew of Kay Barquin and Shelly Thompson, and last but certainly not least my trusty side kicks who served as starters, jump crew and all around support, Mary Harp and Robin Lundgren. We make a pretty good team! Thanks to Chef Greg for keeping us all fed.
And my heartfelt thanks to the approximately 50 exhibitors who braved the weather leading up to the show and were so supportive to come out and show. The profits from this year's show were over $3600 and within 4 dollars of what we made last year! The fun we all had makes the work more than worth it!
