Farmington Hunt riders Mark Thompson and Stephanie Guerlain represented the club at the state championships last weekend on a beautiful fall Sunday after a day of drenching rain. There was alot going on that day with FHC also hosting the final event in the Fun Hunter Pace series here at home in Free Union. Mark and Stephanie were among the 22 teams that competed, and Stephanie was among the final 10.
Mark Thomson reported:
""The Va Field Hunter Championship held at Tivoli Farm was a fantastic event. Despite the rain on Saturday, the course held up beautifully. My horse jumped well, but unfortunately he got very excited in the hack portion, so our overall results were not what we had hoped for. Everything was run very well and the quality of the horses and riders was top notch. Mo Baptiste from the Piedmont Hounds was Champion, and Marilyn Ware representing Deep Run Hunt was Reserve."
Stephanie remarked "The horses were incredible, and the course was wonderful. It was so fun!" Cathy Summers, who traveled to the event with daughter Elena to photograph the competition noted that the judges had a very tough time making their selections, the riders all did so well. Thanks Mark and Stephanie for representing the Club.
