report by Kip Holloway, MFH

Farmington Hunt was honored to have three lovely young riders competing at the
Junior North American Field Hunter Championships on November 9, 2019 at Old Whitewood
Farm in The Plains, Virginia. Josie Galvin, Leah Hoffman and Kat Ravichandran
were beautifully turned out and rode with great skill amongst over 100 junior riders.
After a flat class and mock hunt, 10 finalists were chosen from each division to
perform an individual test. Josie Galvin on Priceless were picked as one of the
finalists in the 11 yr old and over hilltopper's division. Josie and "Pricey" performed
a spectacular individual test and were awarded CHAMPION of their division. Pricey
is owned by FHC member, Locke Ogens, and I know Josie is very appreciative to get the
chance to ride and care for such an awesome pony.
It was a long day and all the girls and their parents had the best attitude! Thank you
so much to the parents for giving your kids the opportunity to try a range of horse
sports, and many, many thanks goes to Jenn Daly for all of her time, effort and encouragement
to these young riders.
